Madison Prep has partnered with the St. Clair Butterfly Foundation to work together in providing opportunities for creative expression and emotional healing through the use of creative outlets. Our students engaged in a landscaping and planting project last year and continued it this year with the help of many volunteers and donations from local businesses and the Foundation. It has enabled the students to feel ownership to thier school environment as well as gives them an opportunity to go beyond their school work and engage in a healing and creative activity.
Pictured here are several Madison Prep students working in the soil and planting both perenials and annuals to beautify our entryway. Our science students are putting to use the concepts and processes they learned and studied in class.
On May 23, 2013 our students, together with the Butterfly Foundation volunteers, planted new annuals to bring color back to the landscaping at our front entrance. New mulch was donated and spread as well.
Once the flowers were planted, the students watered them and worked on creating a boundary with cement stones. Their teamwork and committment was exciting to experience. It was a fabulous and fruitful day!
